[MIKARA] What & When did you know you wanted to become a fashion designer?

[RADWA] I think I kind of always knew I want to become a fashion designer. Since I was a kid really I would always be making tiny little clothes for my barbie dolls out of socks and out of my mum’s scarves. Then throughout school I spent most time in my classes sketching designs hiding my sketchbook under the desk and hoping my teachers don’t notice haha.

[MIKARA] Were you always interested in creating womenswear? Do you see yourself venturing to other markets?

[RADWA] I’ve done womenswear for most of my life, but I’ve also done menswear and I even did unisex, and I really enjoyed it. I would say I’m quiet flexible, I feel like it’s really easy to translate your ideas and inspirations once you’ve got them to whether it be womenswear, menswear, unisex, or even childrenswear. Right now I’m working on womenswear because I’ve got more experience in that, but definitely someday I want to expand my market and do a unisex line and a menswear line.

[MIKARA] What is your favorite part about being a designer? Creating?

[RADWA] My favorite part is when I successfully develop my designs from 2D to 3D and start the production in real fabric.

[MIKARA] Since you finished up at Nottingham Trent University, how has fashion made you express your new dimensions in your upcoming collection? Life? Confidence?

[RADWA] Nottingham Trent has been a crazy ride, it got really difficult at times but I really enjoyed it and I’ve learned so much and I’ve definitely changed a lot as a designer, and managed to develop an identity as a designer. I am currently working on a very exciting collaboration and will be dropping a new capsule collection soon.

[MIKARA] What is your definition for fashion?

[RADWA] Fashion to me is to be able to express yourself and how you feel through clothes.

[MIKARA] As you continue to build your brand, how do you want your clients to feel when wearing your garments?

[RADWA] I believe in garments that send a message and make statement, whether it be in a subtle hidden way or in-your-face kind of way. I want women who wear my garments to feel empowered, sexy, and confident.

[MIKARA] Describe THE perfect Radwa Radwan client in 3-5 words?

[RADWA] Bold, loud, edgy, badass!

[MIKARA] What luxury designer/brand do you admire the most and why?

[RADWA] This is a very hard one! I mean there are so many designers in the industry that I absolutely admire! But if I had to choose it would be Margiela. The bold silhouettes and unique designs and identity is what I love the most about the brand. I also admire Balenciaga and Yohji Yamamoto.

[MIKARA] If you could pick a celebrity/ influencer to be your brand ambassador for a season, who would it be and why?

[RADWA] That’s an easy one! Rihanna definitely! She has been my muse for a very long time. I love her bold style and that she’s not afraid to experiment with it, as well as her character and the things she’s done, that woman has dominated the music industry, the fashion industry, the beauty industry and the film industry. She’s a real boss.

[MIKARA] In the next 3-5 years, where would you like to see the brand Radwa Radwan?

[RADWA] I would love have opened a few pop up stores around the world, an online store, and maybe a permanent store somewhere. I would also love to expand my market and start a unisex line.
